Sheriff thanks Lee County dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson on Facebook thanked the men and women who handle emergency calls in recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, praising their professionalism and dedication. He said dispatchers are the “calm voice on the other end of the line” and that their work does not go unnoticed.

Public safety telecommunicators — commonly known as 911 dispatchers — receive emergency calls, dispatch law enforcement, fire and medical responders, and provide essential information that can save lives. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is observed annually to recognize those critical, often behind-the-scenes roles.

Johnson specifically thanked Lee County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers and Lee Communications 911 dispatchers for their commitment to community safety. He noted that behind every call is a person who cares about the community and the safety of those who serve it.

The post did not provide additional details about local activities or events planned for the week. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
