Salvation Army Jackson pantry seeks food donations
JACKSON — The Salvation Army Jackson Metro Area is asking the community to donate pantry staples to help support families in need, the organization said. The pantry said it needs everyday essentials including rice, noodles, peanut butter, canned meat, tomato sauce, granola bars and other nonperishable items.
The Salvation Army is an international, faith-based nonprofit known for providing emergency assistance, food distribution, shelter and other social services in communities across the United States. Local branches operate food pantries to provide short-term relief and to help residents facing economic hardship.
Community donations to food pantries can help bridge gaps for families who struggle to afford groceries between paychecks or while managing unexpected expenses. The Salvation Army said contributions of common, shelf-stable items allow staff and volunteers to assemble balanced food packages quickly and respond to changing needs.
Donations can be dropped off at 110 Presto Lane in Jackson, according to The Salvation Army. The organization said every donation helps it continue serving and feeding people in the community. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
