Community honors dispatchers during National Telecommunicators Week

A local public safety agency is recognizing its 911 dispatchers during National Telecommunicators Week, saying they serve as the first point of contact in emergencies and provide steady guidance during critical moments.

In a Facebook post, the agency said dispatchers answer emergency calls, dispatch police, fire and emergency medical services and perform life-saving instructions over the phone. The post thanked dispatchers for their calm direction during some of the community’s most urgent incidents.

National Telecommunicators Week is an annual observance that honors 911 telecommunicators and other emergency dispatch personnel who handle high-stress situations, coordinate responses and relay crucial information to first responders. Public safety officials regularly note that effective dispatching can shorten response times and improve outcomes for people in distress.

The agency did not provide additional details about events or recognitions tied to the week. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
