Mississippi State volleyball sweeps Louisiana to open Ragin’ Cajuns Classic

Mississippi State opened the Ragin' Cajuns Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana, with a sweep of host team Louisiana. Lindsey Mangelson reached her 500th career kill in the second set, becoming the fastest Mississippi State player to reach the milestone. Evie Grace Singleton previously held the program mark, reaching 500 kills in 39 matches in 2016.

Bernardita Aguilar led the Bulldogs with 14 kills and a .438 kill percentage. Paloma Routaboul added eight kills, while Ava Anderson recorded seven, a season high. Mississippi State combined for 8.5 total blocks.

McKenna Yates led the Bulldogs with 15 digs. Mangelson had 12 digs, and Cayley Hanson recorded 11. Hanson had three aces, while Mangelson had two.

Mississippi State will face Jackson State at 2:30 p.m. CT in its next match. The Bulldogs will close the event against UT Arlington on Saturday, with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
