William Carey women’s soccer blanks Mobile 2-0 for third conference win

The William Carey University women’s soccer team earned its third conference victory of the season Thursday evening, defeating the University of Mobile 2-0 on the road in Mobile, Alabama.

The Lady Crusaders controlled possession and created numerous chances, outshooting Mobile 13-1 before halftime. Mia Encinia opened the scoring in the 26th minute, giving William Carey a 1-0 lead that held through the break.

William Carey continued to control play in the second half while limiting the Rams’ opportunities. Mobile managed two shots on goal, but goalkeeper Alicia Garwood made key saves to preserve the shutout.

Linda Musterd added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, extending the lead to 2-0 and securing the conference road win for the Lady Crusaders.

William Carey returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
