Mississippi Christian sweeps Augusta in volleyball
Mississippi Christian swept Augusta 3-0 on Saturday in Clinton, winning 25-18, 25-22 and 25-15.
The Choctaws finished with 35 kills and a .229 hitting percentage, while Augusta had 20 kills and hit minus .030. Mississippi Christian erased a mid-set deficit in the opening set and closed on a 7-1 run. The Choctaws also took four of the final five points from a 21-21 tie in the second set and pulled away by winning seven of eight rallies in the third set to build an 18-8 lead.
Meg Paparella led Mississippi Christian with 13 kills and 16 points while hitting .500. She also had two service aces and five digs. Samarin Kipple recorded a team-high 14 digs, along with five assists and one ace, while Reese Regner had a team-best 13 assists, two aces and five digs.
Mississippi Christian will travel to Livingston, Alabama, to face West Alabama on Friday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m.
