Mississippi Christian sweeps Christian Brothers in volleyball

Mississippi Christian defeated Christian Brothers 3-0 on Tuesday in Clinton, using a 43-23 advantage in kills and holding Christian Brothers to a .025 hitting percentage.

Mississippi College turned a 12-10 first-set lead into a 22-10 advantage with a 10-0 run, including nine consecutive service points with Cydney Mitchell serving. The Choctaws closed the set 25-15 on a Holland Williams kill from Mamie Fromdahl.

Mississippi College extended a 12-10 second-set lead to 19-10 with seven straight points, six of them coming on Reese Regner's serve. Christian Brothers narrowed the deficit, but Mississippi College won 25-20, with Williams finishing the set on a kill from Fromdahl.

Christian Brothers tied the third set at 22-22 before Mississippi College scored the final three points to win 25-22 and complete the sweep.

Mary Grace Foster led Mississippi College with 11 kills, a .308 hitting percentage and two blocks. Williams also had 11 kills, hit .304 and added two block assists. Regner recorded 18 assists, 13 digs and two aces, while Mitchell contributed six kills, three solo blocks, six digs and one ace.

Mississippi College will host Valdosta State on Friday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. in Clinton.
