Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s soccer team remained unbeaten in Southern States Athletic Conference play Saturday, drawing Point University 1-1 on the road in West Point, Georgia. The Toppers moved to 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, with four points through their first two SSAC matches.
Blue Mountain Christian took the lead in the 25th minute when Sammuel Davi Cavalcante set up Guilherme Aguiar, who scored at 24:36. Point responded less than two minutes later, with Joao Fernandes scoring from Kevin Richards’ assist at 26:31 to tie the match.
The score remained tied at halftime. Point put two shots on goal in the second half, but Blue Mountain Christian goalkeeper Luan Nascimento stopped both attempts. The Toppers recorded three shots and all three of their corner kicks after halftime but could not score the go-ahead goal.
Nascimento played all 90 minutes and finished with two saves. Blue Mountain Christian had six shots in the match compared with eight for Point, while the Skyhawks held a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal and led 4-3 in corner kicks.
