Mississippi Christian sweeps AUM in volleyball at A.E. Wood Coliseum

Mississippi Christian defeated AUM 3-0 on Saturday at A.E. Wood Coliseum, winning 25-9, 25-9 and 25-20.

The Choctaws hit .280 with 44 kills and 10 aces, while AUM finished with 14 kills and a minus-.031 attack percentage.

Cydney Mitchell led Mississippi Christian with 10 kills, three service aces and 14 points while hitting .444. Meg Paparella also had 10 kills, hit .643 and collected six digs.

Reese Regner recorded 18 assists and 14 digs, while Samarin Kipple posted 15 digs and added six assists.

Mississippi Christian built a 14-6 lead in the first set after AUM had tied the score at 5-5, then closed with six straight points for the 25-9 victory. The Choctaws used a 6-0 run to turn a 7-3 second-set advantage into a 13-3 lead and again won 25-9.

In the third set, Mississippi Christian moved ahead 6-1 and extended the margin to 21-10 before AUM rallied to 22-16. The Choctaws reached set point on an AUM attack error, and Anna Grace Chason finished the match with a kill for the 25-20 win.

Mississippi Christian will travel to Jackson, Tennessee, to face Union on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m.
