Oxford police attend NASRO school safety conference in Reno
Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that school resource officers Cpl. Wilson, Officer Diaz, Officer Williams and Officer Galloway are attending the NASRO National School Safety Conference in Reno, Nevada.
The department said the conference brings together school safety professionals from across the country to share best practices, learn new strategies and strengthen partnerships focused on protecting students and staff.
Oxford Police Department provides law enforcement services in Oxford, Mississippi, including assigning school resource officers, or SROs, to work in local schools. SROs typically serve as a safety resource, build relationships with students and staff, and coordinate with school administrators and other agencies on emergency planning.
The department said it is committed to ongoing training and professional development to ensure its SROs are equipped with current knowledge and tools to help keep schools safe. Attendance at national conferences gives local officers access to training, networking and new approaches to school safety.
