Vicksburg police leaders attend Mississippi chiefs conference

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Chief Burns and Deputy Chief Curtis recently represented the Vicksburg Police Department at the Mississippi Chiefs of Police Association Summer Conference, the department said in a Facebook post.

The Vicksburg Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Vicksburg, responsible for patrol, investigations and community policing. The department frequently participates in regional and statewide training and networking events to support local public safety efforts.

The Mississippi Chiefs of Police Association brings together agency leaders from across the state to discuss training, policy and leadership strategies. According to the department’s post, the conference provided an opportunity to connect with law enforcement leaders from across the state, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insight into current issues, leadership strategies and best practices in policing.

Law enforcement leaders often use such gatherings to refine training, explore policy approaches and strengthen community-policing efforts, which can influence how agencies address crime and public safety at the local level.
