Hattiesburg police discover two dead during welfare check
HATTIESBURG, Mississippi — At approximately 8:40 a.m. Monday, June 29, officers with the Hattiesburg Police Department responded to a residence in the 3500 block of Hardy Street for a welfare check after receiving a call from a concerned family member, the department said.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered two deceased persons inside the residence, the department said. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities said there is no known threat to the public at this time.

Such calls can range from overdue visitors to reports of medical emergencies, and officers typically secure the scene and contact investigators and medical examiners as needed.
