Pike County trains incoming deputies on domestic violence, commitment procedures

Pike County Sheriff’s Office officials said incoming deputies now receive mandatory training on commitment procedures and domestic violence response to ensure professional, informed handling of sensitive incidents.

Mrs. Jenna Breaux, a member of the sheriff’s leadership team, leads the training, providing deputies with the knowledge and resources needed to respond effectively, the department said. Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said, “We are serious about our team being prepared as we serve the citizens of Pike County.”

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office, which serves as the primary law enforcement agency for the county, said the program is designed to standardize responses, protect victims, and ensure deputies follow legal and medical protocols when situations require commitment or specialized assistance.

Training on domestic violence and commitment procedures is widely seen by law enforcement experts as a key component of community policing because it helps reduce harm, improves victim support and promotes accountability. The department’s public relations office provided photos of the session and used the hashtag #ServiceBeforeSelf.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
