William Carey women’s soccer rolls past Brewton-Parker 8-0
The William Carey Lady Crusaders defeated Brewton-Parker 8-0 on Thursday afternoon at Danny Owens Field in Hattiesburg, controlling the match from the opening minute.
Carey took the lead one minute into the match when Kayla Martin’s pass set up Mia Encinia. Sara Aguirre made it 2-0 in the eighth minute by finishing a rebound after Paloma Paris struck the crossbar. Raquel Diaz then found Mia Mustered inside the box, and Mustered scored in the 16th minute.
The Crusaders added two more goals before halftime. Raquel Batalla Royo intercepted a pass in the 29th minute and helped send Martin into the attack for a goal. Five minutes later, Royo finished a chance after Martin’s pass was partially blocked, giving Carey a 5-0 halftime lead.
Carey outshot Brewton-Parker 29-1 and put 13 attempts on target in the second half. Paris scored in the 80th minute, Aguirre added her second goal shortly afterward, and Sabrina Ramos Camatta completed the scoring in the 85th minute for the 8-0 final.
William Carey hosts Thomas University in Southern States Athletic Conference play Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Danny Owens Field.
