William Carey rolls past Brewton-Parker 12-0 in conference opener

William Carey opened conference play with a 12-0 victory over Brewton-Parker on Thursday night at Danny Owens Field in Hattiesburg.

Fernando Pirry helped the Crusaders take an early lead by beating the Barons’ goalkeeper to a loose ball and crossing to Isaiah Harvey, who finished into an open net. William Carey doubled its advantage in the 21st minute when Pedro Sao Tiago set up Daniel Mulero, who redirected the ball past the charging goalkeeper. Mulero scored again in the 31st minute with a header from Enzo Galli’s service.

Brewton-Parker fell further behind as Souleymane Balde found Gabriel Hernandez in the 34th minute, followed one minute later by Fabian Arroyo’s goal. The Crusaders led 5-0 at halftime.

William Carey extended the lead less than a minute into the second half. Josef Wilson intercepted a pass near midfield and played the ball to Jean Danitanga, who found Hernandez for his second goal of the match and a 6-0 score.

Pirry scored again in the 71st minute after George Steers won the ball, then dribbled around a defender and finished. Steers scored three minutes later by tapping in a cross from Luka Brandic. Brandic scored in the 79th and 85th minutes, while Pirry completed his hat trick in the 84th minute.

William Carey returns to action Saturday against Thomas University at Danny Owens Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
