Southern Miss women’s golf ties for 11th at Ben Connell Ram Classic

Savannah Van Gaalen shot a 3-under 69 with two eagles in the final round, helping Southern Miss move up two spots and finish tied for 11th at the Ben Connell Ram Classic, which concluded Tuesday at Ptarmigan Golf & Country Club in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Golden Eagles posted a final-round 294, six over par.

Van Gaalen recorded four birdies along with her two eagles to post Southern Miss’ lowest round of the day. She finished tied for 31st individually at 4-over 220 for the tournament.

Morgan Guepet was Southern Miss’ top individual finisher, tying for 27th at 3-over 219 after a final-round 75. She finished 5-under on par 5s and tied for sixth in the field with a 4.58 scoring average on those holes.

Louise Cuyvers shot 75 in the final round and tied for 36th at 6-over 222. Liv Romer also carded a 75, finishing tied for 50th at 10-over 226, while Chloe Stevenazzi closed with a 76 to tie for 63rd at 13-over 229.

UNLV won the team title at 19-under, ahead of Washington at 4-under and San Diego State at 3-under. Southern Miss tied Hawaii at 22-over and finished one spot ahead of Northern Colorado.

The Golden Eagles are scheduled to compete at The Alley at Old Waverly Golf Club in two weeks.
