Southern Miss women’s golf finishes third at Tulane Classic

Southern Miss finished third at the Tulane Classic at TPC Louisiana, recording the Golden Eagles’ best season-opening finish since winning the USA Intercollegiate in 2016.

Louise Cuyvers led Southern Miss by finishing fourth at one-under for the event, three strokes behind individual champion Francesca Pompa of Tulane. Cuyvers shot a 73 in the final round, including two birdies on the front nine, and led the field with 12 birdies.

Liv Romer finished tied for 12th with a 76, while Savannah Van Gaalen tied for 14th after shooting a two-under 70. Morgan Guepet posted a 74 and tied for 33rd.

Ava Bates fired a 73 featuring five birdies, and Chloe Stevenazzi carded an 81 with two birdies.

Tulane held off Samford to win the team title. San Diego State and Howard rounded out the top five.

Southern Miss will compete in the Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Sept. 21 and 22 at Ptarmigan Golf Course.
