Jackson State women’s golf opens season at Tulane Classic in Avondale

The Jackson State women’s golf team will begin the 2026-27 season Tuesday morning at the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana.

Play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., with the tournament spanning two days. The field includes Tulane, Howard, Southern, Georgia State, West Florida, San Diego State, LSU, Tarleton State, Samford, Loyola, Lamar, Southern Miss and Jackson State.

TPC Louisiana was designed by Pete Dye in conjunction with PGA TOUR players Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson, a New Orleans native. The course covers more than 250 acres of wetlands along the Mississippi River Delta and is part of the Audubon Golf Trail and the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program.

The layout includes cypress and oak trees, more than 100 bunkers and five ponds. Its five tee sets range from 5,121 yards from the front and women’s tees to 7,400 yards from the tips. The par-5 18th hole, the course’s signature hole, has water along its entire right side.
