Guepet leads Southern Miss into final round at Ben Connell Ram Classic

Southern Miss finished the opening day of the Ben Connell Ram Classic in 13th place after shooting 16-over 592 through 36 holes Monday at Ptarmigan Golf Course in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Morgan Guepet led the Golden Eagles at even-par 144, tying for 19th individually. She opened with a 1-over 73 and followed with a 1-under 71 that included an eagle on the par-5 16th hole. The second-round score moved her up four spots on the individual leaderboard.

Louise Cuyvers was Southern Miss' second-leading scorer at 3-over 147, tied for 35th, after rounds of 74 and 73. Liv Romer and Savannah Van Gaalen each shot 7-over 151 to tie for 54th; Romer posted rounds of 76 and 75, while Van Gaalen recorded 77 and 74. Chloe Stevenazzi was tied for 65th at 9-over 153 after shooting 76 in the morning and 77 in the afternoon.

The Golden Eagles opened with an 11-over 299 and stood 11th after the first round. They followed with a 5-over 293, dropping two places. Northern Colorado finished the day one stroke ahead of Southern Miss, leaving the Golden Eagles 13th at the midway point.

UNLV led the tournament at 12-under 564 after rounds of 2-under and 10-under. Washington was second at 6-under, followed by UC Davis at 5-under, San Diego State at 3-under and Cal Poly at 1-under.

The final round is scheduled to resume Tuesday morning with a 9:45 a.m. shotgun start.
