Millsaps women’s soccer falls 8-0 to LeTourneau

Millsaps College’s women’s soccer team lost to LeTourneau University 8-0 Saturday at Harper Davis Field in Jackson.

LeTourneau took a 5-0 lead after scoring five times in the opening 16:38. The Yellowjackets finished with 26 shots, including 13 on goal, while Millsaps recorded four shots and one on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Umanzor made five saves in the first half. Millsaps held LeTourneau scoreless during a later attacking stretch that included five shots and two corner kicks.

LeTourneau scored three more times in the second half despite four saves by freshman goalkeeper Kayla Borden. Millsaps created late chances through shots by senior Alex Bremond and freshmen Eden Birch and Hailie Moorer, along with a corner kick at 87:43, but the Yellowjackets added a late goal to complete the 8-0 victory.

Millsaps will return Wednesday against MUW at 6 p.m. in Columbus, Mississippi. Live video and statistics will be available at gomajors.com.
