Millsaps volleyball splits Sewanee Quad Match, sweeps Maryville

Millsaps opened conference play at the Sewanee Quad Match by falling to Sewanee 3-0 before sweeping Maryville 3-0 at Juhan Gymnasium. Sewanee won 25-20, 25-20 and 25-23, while Millsaps defeated Maryville 25-23, 25-11 and 25-14.

Against Sewanee, senior Sandy Bourgeois recorded 18 digs and a service ace. Junior Zoë LaCaze shared the team lead with six kills, hit .308 and added two block assists, while sophomore Rachel Zamjahn had a team-high 10 assists, a service ace and a block assist.

Millsaps responded against Maryville with a statistical edge in kills, 44-26, while hitting .275. The Majors also held advantages in digs, 49-38, and total blocks, 6-1, and benefited from 23 Maryville attack errors.

Khloe Duncan led Millsaps with 13 kills, a .409 hitting percentage and one block assist. Drury had a team-best 22 assists, four digs and a service ace, while Sasser added seven kills on a .412 hitting percentage and four block assists.

Millsaps will host Trinity University in conference action on Friday at 6:30 p.m. inside the Hangar Dome.
