Lafayette County sheriff’s office urges residents to know their 911 address

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to make sure everyone in their household knows the home’s 911 address and can provide it to a dispatcher during an emergency.

The office said this is especially important for children who are home alone, babysitters or visitors, elderly family members and people living in rural homes with long driveways or multiple entrances.

Residents are also encouraged to save their home address in their phones and display it clearly near the home or driveway so emergency responders can locate the property quickly.

The message concludes with three reminders: “Know your address. Know what to do. Be prepared.”
