Millsaps volleyball sweeps United States Sports University, improves to 8-2

Millsaps College volleyball swept United States Sports University 3-0 on Friday night at the Hangar Dome in Jackson, improving to 8-2 on the season.

Khloe Duncan led Millsaps with 10 kills, three digs and two block assists. Zoë LaCaze added seven kills, six service aces and three block assists, while Lily Luneau recorded seven kills on 11 attacks. Sandy Bourgeois had a team-high nine digs and three assists.

The Majors won the first set 25-11 after taking an early 5-1 lead and scoring 10 consecutive points after United States Sports University pulled within 8-5. Millsaps reached set point at 24-11 on a Duncan kill before Duncan finished the set on the next rally.

Millsaps opened the second set with a 9-0 run, including three Duncan kills and a service ace, and extended its lead to 19-4. The Majors closed the set 25-11 on a kill by Madelynn Sasser.

In the third set, Millsaps built an 11-1 advantage and later led 18-3 after a six-point run that included a LaCaze kill and two aces. The Majors reached 21-4 before winning 25-10 on a United States Sports University attack error.

Before the match, Millsaps ranked 37th in NCAA Division III with 410 kills and 32nd with 583 digs. Bourgeois ranked 25th nationally with 167 digs.

Millsaps is scheduled to open conference play at Sewanee on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. in Sewanee, Tennessee.
