Freshmen Ryan Achau and Sya Bodlen earned Southwestern Athletic Conference weekly awards for their performances at the Mississippi Christian Opener, according to Jackson State Athletics.
Achau won the men's 5k in 15:05.3 in his first collegiate race. The Baringo, Kenya, native was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week.
Bodlen also competed in her first collegiate race, finishing the women's 5k in the top 25. The Lafayette native helped her team claim a top-five finish and earned SWAC Newcomer of the Week honors.
