Street Ball opens with strong turnout, Vicksburg police say

Vicksburg Police Department said the first day of its Street Ball youth basketball program drew strong participation and abundant community energy.

In a Facebook post, the department said young people competed, built friendships and enjoyed a positive environment as volunteers, parents and other supporters helped run the event.

Vicksburg Police Department said organizers thanked players, parents, volunteers and supporters for making the opening day a success and encouraged the community to return for continued play.

Street Ball is a youth basketball event the department is using as part of its community engagement and youth development efforts. Such programs generally aim to foster positive interactions between local residents and police and to provide constructive activities for young people.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
