Street ball returns to Vicksburg

Organizers announced that street ball is returning to Vicksburg and parents are invited to sign up at a parent meeting and sign-up day on June 2. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at 820 Veto Street (in the courtroom), the Facebook post said. For more information, organizers provided a contact name of Danielle Williams at 601-218-1766.

The post said the program aims to bring the community together through basketball, mentorship, teamwork and fun. Organizers encouraged parents to register so teams and volunteer roles can be planned for the season.

Community street ball programs typically offer young people opportunities for exercise, social development and structured activity outside school hours. Local youth sports also often rely on volunteers and partnerships with neighborhood organizations to provide coaching, supervision and mentorship.

The Facebook announcement included hashtags such as #streetball, #VicksburgMS and #communitysupport that indicate local interest. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
