Starkville Police operate weekend safety zone, rideshare pickup in Cotton District

The Starkville Police Department said in a Facebook post that it operates a safety zone and designated rideshare pickup and drop-off in the Cotton District on Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

The department said the measure is designed to support public safety in high-traffic areas and to provide a clear, organized location for patrons using rideshare services. The rideshare pickup and drop-off will continue at the same location used since a 2024 change, the post said.

The Starkville Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency serving Starkville, Mississippi. The Cotton District is a popular nightlife and entertainment area that draws large crowds on weekend evenings, increasing demand for transportation and public-safety resources.

The department’s weekend operation aims to manage traffic, reduce congestion and provide a visible police presence during peak hours. Officials have not released additional operational details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
