Starkville Police announce Cotton District safety zone

The Starkville Police Department said in a Facebook post that it operates a safety zone and rideshare pickup and drop-off area in the Cotton District on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The department said the measure is designed to support public safety in high-traffic areas. The rideshare pickup and drop-off location will continue to operate from the same site used since a 2024 change, the post said.

The Starkville Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency that patrols Starkville, a city with active entertainment and dining areas. Safety zones and designated rideshare areas are commonly used in busy entertainment districts to help manage crowds, improve pedestrian safety and streamline traffic flow during peak hours.

Officials did not provide additional details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
