Two injured in Starkville shooting; two charged with aggravated assault

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Two people ages 17 and 18 were injured in a shooting about 9:03 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, near Westside Drive and Long Street, the Starkville Police Department said in a news release Saturday.

Police said officers transported one injured person to Baptist Memorial Hospital–Oktibbeha County. Of the two victims, one has since been released from medical care while the other was taken to Jackson for further treatment, the department said.

Shedrick Jones II, 19, of Starkville, and Tyler Walls, 18, of Starkville, were arrested Aug. 15 and charged with aggravated assault, the release said. The investigation remains active, and the department thanked community members who have assisted.
