Southaven police patrol school zones as students return
Southaven Police Department says officers will protect and patrol to help keep students safe as schools resume, the department said in a Facebook post.
The department said officers will be positioned near school zones to assist with traffic flow as needed and to provide a visible safety presence. Motorists and parents are urged to give themselves extra time and be patient as the community adjusts to the school-year routine.
Southaven Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Southaven, Mississippi, responsible for public safety, traffic enforcement and community outreach. Local police agencies commonly increase patrols and traffic control on the first day of school and during the first weeks of the term to reduce congestion and enhance student safety.
Officials did not provide additional operational details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
