Summer school keeps school zones active at select campuses through June 25
Summer school is in session, and school zones will remain active at select campuses through June 25, a Facebook post said.
Drivers should slow down and obey all school zone traffic laws Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., the post said. School zones named in the post include Hawkins Elementary School on Green Street; Thames Elementary School on Jamestown Road; Woodley Elementary School at 21st Avenue and Hardy Street; and Hattiesburg High School on Hutchinson Avenue.
Officials urged motorists to plan accordingly if they commute through these areas and to help keep students, families and school staff safe by remaining alert and following posted speed limits and signage.
School zone restrictions are designed to reduce speed and increase safety when students are arriving and leaving campus. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
