Rankin County deputies place at National LawFit Challenge

Sheriff Bailey and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department commended deputies who placed at the 24th Annual National LawFit Challenge, the department said in a Facebook post. The competition took place in Desoto County and hosted participants from across the country.

Investigator Chris Cousin took fifth place in the sit-and-reach event, and Deputy McKenzie Taylor finished third in the 200-yard foot-pursuit course, the post said.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement services to residents of Rankin County, Mississippi. The National LawFit Challenge is an annual fitness competition for law enforcement personnel that tests strength, endurance and job-related physical skills and draws agencies from around the United States.

The department’s Facebook post said it wanted to commend each deputy who participated. The results highlight officers’ physical preparedness for duty and can contribute to morale and community confidence in local law enforcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
