National LawFit Challenge returns to DeSoto County in July
Some of the nation’s fittest law enforcement officers will return to north Mississippi July 16-18 for the 2026 National LawFit Challenge in DeSoto County, organizers said. The three-day competition will bring officers from across the country to compete in events designed to test strength, speed, flexibility and endurance.
Participants will face a series of physical tests including bench press, pull-ups, sit-ups, a 1.5-mile run and a 200-yard agility course that simulates job-related tasks such as suspect apprehension, officer rescue, wall climbs and simulated shooting, organizers said.
Thomas Tuggle, the national LawFit coordinator, said Mississippi hosts the event in part because of the state’s long-standing success. Founded in 2002, the competition has become a showcase for law enforcement fitness and preparedness.
“It’s designed to test strength, speed, flexibility and endurance,” Tuggle said in past years. “They leave there with a newfound idea of what friendship is,” he said, adding the event promotes health, better decision-making and survival readiness while fostering camaraderie among officers.
Organizers said registration is open for competitors and that they are seeking sponsors for the 2026 event. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
