Railroad schedules Stateline Road closure for crossing improvements

The railroad will close Stateline Road between Horn Lake Road and Highway 51 on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, to make improvements to the rail crossing, the company said in a Facebook post. The railroad said it expects to reopen the road in less than 24 hours.

Officials said the roadway will be closed to through traffic during the work but will remain open for local traffic. Motorists were advised to prepare to use alternate routes while crews complete the work.

Rail crossing improvements typically include repairs to rails and pavement, upgrades to signaling or drainage work to improve safety and reliability. Such work helps reduce the risk of vehicle-train incidents and can improve traffic flow at crossings once completed.

The brief closure could affect daily commuters and commercial traffic that use the corridor. Drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted detours and watch for workers and equipment. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
