Biloxi railroad crossing arms operate properly at Caillavet Street
The City of Biloxi said on its Facebook page that railroad crossing arms at the intersection of Caillavet Street are now operating properly.
The advisory, posted by city officials, alerts motorists and pedestrians that the safety devices controlling vehicle and foot traffic at the railroad crossing are functioning as intended. Railroad crossing arms lower to block the roadway when trains approach and are a primary safety measure to prevent collisions.
Biloxi is a coastal city on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and city transportation and public works officials routinely monitor crossings and signals to protect residents and visitors. The notice underscores the importance of working safety equipment at rail crossings for both traffic flow and public safety.
Motorists should continue to obey all crossing signals and never drive around lowered gates. The City of Biloxi said it will update the public if further action is needed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
