Oxford police honor three officers with Blue Line Award
Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post it honored Officer Morgan Owens, Officer Micah Taylor and PACE Officer Stephen Allen with a Blue Line Award for their response to an Aug. 15 incident in Oxford, Mississippi.
The department said a female citizen reported non-consensual surveillance and Officer Owens quickly identified and detained a suspect after the report.
At the same time, the department said, Officer Taylor and PACE Officer Allen reviewed hours of downtown surveillance footage and connected the suspect to additional felony offenses committed earlier that day. The department credited the three officers with teamwork, quick response and dedication to public safety.
The Facebook post said the officers’ actions helped remove a dangerous individual from the streets and protect others, and cited the department’s mission to “Serve with Wisdom and Compassion while creating a Safe and Connected Community.” Oxford is a city in northern Mississippi and is home to the University of Mississippi.
