Oxford Police honor fallen officers at Lafayette County memorial
The Oxford Police Department participated in the Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial during National Police Week to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, the department said in a Facebook post.
National Police Week, observed each May, is dedicated to remembering law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Communities and agencies across the country hold memorial services, moments of silence and other events to recognize the service and sacrifice of officers and to offer support to their families and colleagues.
The Oxford Police Department, the municipal force responsible for public safety in Oxford, said it stood alongside fellow officers at the county memorial. Participation in such ceremonies underscores cooperation among local, county and state agencies and the role memorials play in community healing and recognition.
Details about the ceremony, including participants and any remarks, were not provided in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
