Ocean Springs police join Firehounds summer program

The Ocean Springs Police Department said on Facebook that its officers visited the Ocean Springs Fire Department’s summer kids program, The Firehounds, during the program’s second week to show young participants some of the tools and equipment used to protect the community.

The post said officers took part on the third day of each week and gave children an up-close look at a police cruiser, along with time to meet and talk with officers.

According to the post, The Firehounds provides hands-on experiences that teach fire safety, CPR and the Heimlich maneuver while fostering positive relationships between children and first responders. The program is run by the Ocean Springs Fire Department in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

The police department thanked the fire department for inviting them to participate and said they were grateful for the opportunity to help educate and inspire the next generation while working to build a safer community. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
