The Ocean Springs Police Department said Tuesday that Lt. Daniel Wanhala and Lt. Andrew England are representing the department at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety.
The department posted a photo on its Facebook page showing the two lieutenants alongside law enforcement professionals from agencies including the Louisiana State Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, OSPD said.
OSPD said participation in the program gives officers opportunities to learn alongside peers, exchange ideas and experiences, build professional relationships and bring new knowledge and perspectives back to the department.
Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety offers leadership and professional development programs for law enforcement officials aimed at improving management, decision-making and community engagement, officials say. The department said it views continued training as an investment in both officers and the community they serve.
