National Police Week honors officers’ commitment

The Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that National Police Week is “more than a recognition, it’s a reminder of the commitment each person who’s worn the badge has made.”

The department thanked officers for answering the call and said their sacrifice does not go unnoticed, adding blue-heart and community hashtags including #NationalPoliceWeek and #OxfordMS.

National Police Week is observed each year to honor law enforcement officers and remember those who have died in the line of duty. Observances often include ceremonies and events at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., and local departments typically hold their own commemorations to recognize service and sacrifice.

Oxford officials’ message underscores the role law enforcement plays in community safety and the gratitude many residents and agencies express during this observance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
