MEMA monitors Tropical Storm Bertha, issues warnings for Mississippi Gulf Coast
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said it is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha and has issued Tropical Storm Warnings for the Mississippi Gulf Coast as the system moves westward and could make landfall in Louisiana.
MEMA said in a Facebook post that tropical storm conditions are expected tonight, July 21, 2026, and Wednesday, July 22, 2026. A Storm Surge Watch is also in effect for Mississippi, and the coast is expected to receive a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet.
The agency said it remains in constant contact with county emergency management offices to ensure local officials have needed resources and information to prepare. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency coordinates the state’s response to disasters, working with counties, local responders and other state and federal partners.
Residents along the coast should monitor forecasts, follow local evacuation or safety guidance if issued and secure property ahead of the storm. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
