Lamar County disaster service center closes Saturday
The Disaster Service Center in Lamar County will close Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at 2 p.m., a Facebook post said. The center is located at the Lamar County Community Center.
People whose homes or property were affected by the May 6-7 storms (DR-4922) can still get in-person help at other Disaster Service Centers, the post said. Services available include assistance with FEMA applications, information about state and local resources and the opportunity to speak with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans.
Alternate centers are open in Franklin, Lawrence, Lincoln and Wilkinson counties. Hours are Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; centers are closed Sunday. Disaster Service Centers provide in-person assistance with federal and local recovery programs and information on next steps for affected residents.
Residents do not need to visit a center to apply. They can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). We will provide more information as it becomes available.
