A permitted event will close sections of North Lamar and Monroe Avenue in Oxford from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, a Facebook post said. The post urged drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes before heading out for the weekend.
According to the post, North Lamar will be closed from Courthouse Square to the North Lamar/Jefferson intersection. Monroe Avenue will also be closed, as will the Something Southern parking lot across from City Hall.
The post said no overnight parking will be permitted in the affected areas. Any vehicles remaining at 6 a.m. Saturday will be towed at the owner’s expense, and signage will be posted in the area beginning Friday morning.
