Disaster Recovery Center in Alcorn County closes early for weather

The Disaster Recovery Center in Alcorn County, at 2759 South Harper Road in Corinth, will close at 5 p.m. today because of inclement weather, a Facebook post said. The center is scheduled to reopen tomorrow at 8 a.m., the post said.

Disaster Recovery Centers provide in-person help to residents after emergencies, offering information about recovery resources and assistance programs. They are often staffed by state and federal disaster officials and serve as local points of contact for people seeking aid and information following storms or other disasters.

The temporary closure could delay in-person assistance for residents who planned to visit the center today. Officials typically advise people to check official county or emergency management channels before traveling to a center during severe weather to avoid hazardous conditions and closures.

People with immediate needs should watch for updates from local authorities about the center’s status and available services. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
