Jackson Police continue community listening sessions
Jackson Police Department said Dr. Brackney has spent since February meeting with residents, business owners and faith leaders across the city to hear directly about public safety concerns and neighborhood priorities.
The department said the meetings began in Wards 5 and 6 and will continue in the remaining wards through a series of evening meetings and daytime outreach events scheduled for April and May.
Jackson Police Department posted that last night’s meeting was held at the Georgetown Event Center at 800 Woodrow Wilson Ave., Jackson. The post thanked those who attended and described the gatherings as “listening sessions” aimed at identifying ways JPD can strengthen its partnership with the community.
Jackson is the capital and most populous city in Mississippi and is divided into wards that are used for municipal representation. Police-community engagement is a common strategy municipal agencies use to address safety concerns and build trust, the department said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
