HATTIESBURG, Mississippi — Hattiesburg police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old male that occurred Sunday evening, April 12, 2026, the department said.
Authorities identified the suspect as Alexander Del Pilar Trujillo, 23, of Jones County. Trujillo was taken into custody in Jasper County following a coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies, police said.
Trujillo is being held and is expected to be transported back to Hattiesburg to face charges related to the incident, the department said. Detectives said they narrowed their search after receiving a tip about Trujillo’s whereabouts.
The Hattiesburg Police Department thanked the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Task Force for their assistance in the investigation and subsequent arrest.
