Police arrest suspect in fatal Jackson shooting

Jackson police arrested 42-year-old Patrick Harris on Monday in connection with the early-morning shooting death of 27-year-old Anthony Watts, the Jackson Police Department said.

Watts was shot and killed in the 600 block of Northpointe Parkway, police said. Homicide detectives identified Harris as a suspect in the case and took him into custody later that morning.

Harris was charged with murder, aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle, according to the police department. He was booked into the Jackson Police Department holding facility and is awaiting his initial appearance in Municipal Court, the department said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police asked anyone with information to contact the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
