Gulfport Police Department seeks dispatchers
The Gulfport Police Department said in a Facebook post that it is hiring police dispatchers and is seeking applicants who can work under high-pressure conditions. The department said successful candidates will be expected to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, make rapid decisions and remain calm during emergencies.
The post described the dispatch role as one that requires quick thinking and clear communication while coordinating officers and emergency resources. It noted that applicants must be able to interpret radio traffic that may be difficult to hear and to type information faster than callers may panic.
Dispatchers serve as the communications hub for police operations, answering emergency and nonemergency calls, directing units and relaying critical information to responders. The department emphasized the need for people who can maintain composure and ensure timely responses when seconds matter.
The Facebook post encouraged qualified candidates to apply and join the department’s team. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
