Oxford Police Department welcomes two new dispatchers

The Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that it has added two new dispatchers, Gabrielle Taylor and MaryLee Bishop, to its communications team.

Dispatchers serve as the calm voice on emergency lines, the department said, and play a vital role in keeping officers and the community safe by answering calls, prioritizing responses and coordinating resources. The post invited residents to join the department in welcoming the new hires.

Public safety agencies rely on trained dispatchers to gather critical information from callers and to relay it quickly and accurately to first responders. Staffing additions can improve response times and resilience during high-demand periods, officials and public-safety experts say.

The department did not provide additional details about the new dispatchers’ backgrounds or start dates in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
