Ocean Springs Police thank Glory Bound Gyro Co. for feeding dispatchers

OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi — Ocean Springs Police Department said in a Facebook post that Glory Bound Gyro Co. provided lunch to the department’s dispatchers in recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

The department said the gesture honors the men and women who work behind the scenes answering calls, coordinating responses and helping keep the community safe. Dispatchers and 911 operators play a critical role in public safety by relaying information to police, fire and emergency medical services.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is an annual observance that recognizes the work of public safety communications personnel across the country. Community gestures such as providing meals are common ways local businesses and residents show appreciation for first responders and support staff.
